How is All About Africa Tours & Travels contributing

At All About Africa Tours & Travels we work hard to combine excellent service to exceed the expectation of our client and promote sustainable tourism practices by supporting or working with the following organizations:

FTTSA

Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) is a non-profit organisation that promotes sustainable tourism development.

Since 2003, FTTSA has been operating a destination-specific certification programme, based on global principles of Fair Trade in combination with local development imperatives to reduce poverty and inequality.

FTTSA encourages and publicises fair and responsible business practice by South African tourism establishments by awarding qualifying businesses the use of special label as a way of signifying their commitment to the Fair Trade criteria, including; fair wages and working conditions, fair purchasing, fair operations, equitable distribution of benefits and respect for human rights, culture and environment.

At All About Africa Tours & Travels we make use of many FTTSA certified establishments in order to contribute to sustainable tourism, e.g.:

- De Zalze

- Klippe Rivier

- Motswari Private Game Reserve

- Stormsriver Adventures

- Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve

- Umlani Bushcamp

- Singita Kruger National Park

- Spier

This way our clients are assured that their travel benefits local communities and economies, and that the business is operated ethically and in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.

Open Africa Project

Open Africa is a NGO that develops tourism routes to stimulate job creation, encourage the conservation of natural and cultural resources and motivate community participation.

By developing community-oriented tourism routes, all those interested are given the opportunity to get involved in tourism. Communities are made aware of the value of conserving their natural and cultural assets, and authenticity, which are in turn used to attract tourists to the area. The opportunity to create more jobs increases as more tourists visit the area.

Open Africa has four primary activities:

  1. To respond to community requests regarding the formation of routes by facilitating the route development process
  2. To assist in raising the funds necessary to cover the cost of establishing routes
  3. To develop and act as custodian of the website on which the routes are loaded
  4. To act as a support base for the established routes.

All About Africa Tours & Travels specialises in tailor made travel and self drives and we can arrange for our clients to travel (part of) one of the routes. For more information on the Open Africa Tourism Routes please visit their website: www.openafrica.org
